Mario T. Rebello

Mario T. Rebello, 63, of Pawcatuck, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Westerly Hospital. Born on July 28, 1945 in Westerly RI he was the son of the late Manuel and Elsie (Oliver)Rebello. He was a graduate of Arts High School in New Jersey class of 1963 and moved to CT where he resided in Stonington for the rest of his life. In August of 1966, Mario enlisted with the U.S. Navy honorably discharged in 1968, and was also in the Navy Reserves from 1969 to 1994 as a Hull Technician Chief. Shortly after his discharge from military service, he married his high school sweetheart, Judith Pavolick on December 14, 1968. Mario joined the Stonington Police Department in 1974 and was a member of the Stonington Police Reserves where he held the rank of Captain, retiring in October of 2006 after 32 years of service. He also was an active member of the Wequetequock Volunteer Fire Department where he obtained the rank of 1st Assistant Chief. Mario was employed with Electric Boat where he retired in April of 2007 after 43 years of service. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Mario T. Rebello Jr. and his wife, Sandra, of New Bern, NC; two daughters, Diane Lynn Marchigiano of Pawcatuck; and Kristy Lynn Rebello of Westerly RI; a grandson, Anthony Marchigiano who was his pride and joy; his sister, Mary Lou Smith and her husband, Bob, of Franklin NC; a nephew, Bob Smith Jr. and his wife, Wendy, of Pawcatuck; and his beloved two dogs, Taiko and Mittens. Funeral services will begin Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 9:00 am from the Mystic Funeral Home Route 1 Mystic followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 am at St. Michael the Archangel Church 60 Liberty St. Pawcatuck. Burial will follow with full military honors at Stonington Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 8th from 5-9 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Wequetequock Volunteer Fire Department Scholarship Committee,6 Farmholme Road Pawcatuck, CT 06379.

Mario has touched all of our lives in the way only he could, and for that I am greatfull to call him my freind. You will be deeply missed.
